Overview of the qualification procedure
The qualification procedure assesses the required competences in accordance with the vocational education and training ordinance for federally recognised qualifications (VET Certificate/VET Diploma). It comprises various forms of assessment at the end of vocational education and training.
Grading forms
The grading forms calculate the overall grade by averaging the weighted grades from each qualification area.

Practical experience grade sheets
All semester assessments are entered in the practical experience grade sheets to determine performance grades based on practical experience. These are made up of the grades assessed by the vocational school, the branch courses and, if applicable, the host company.

Procedure for occupations with practical experience grades from branch courses
You will find the contact details for submitting the practical experience grade gained through attending branch courses in the address list (document only available in German and French).
The practical experience grade from branch courses (as per BiVo grading) must be submitted to the cantonal office in the canton where the apprenticeship contract was concluded by week 16 of the last apprenticeship year.
If grades are missing, the cantonal office in the canton where the apprenticeship contract was concluded must be contacted.

The list of occupations is an important tool for examiners, which provides an overview of all occupations including important information on the qualification procedure.

Supplementary registration sheets
For occupations with different specialisations or fields of expertise, candidates are individually registered for the qualification procedure. The cantons complete the supplementary sheet.
