Partial unemployment

If the host company is required to make partial unemployment arrangements, it shall take all the measures necessary to spare the apprentice or apprentices and continue to provide their apprenticeship training. These measures may involve: transfer to sectors that work full-time, special measures during the partial unemployment period, transfer to another company, etc. The partial unemployment of apprentices is only conceivable in exceptional circumstances. The parents (legal representatives) and the cantonal VET office must be informed sufficiently in advance of such a measure.

During the period of partial unemployment, the host company is required to pay the salary provided for in the contract in full. The learner is not entitled to receive allowances for partial unemployment. They are entitled to all their holiday leave and must attend the VET school as usual.
